When the war started in Ukraine in 2022, BASMA set up a series of meetings to discuss ways in which we could help. A “Network” of families who were acting as “Hosts” was set up and BASMA organised days out to local Attractions along with lunch meetings where the Hosts and their Ukrainian Guests could meet and discuss how things were going. BASMA used the minibuses to transport our Guests on their arrival in Scotland to their Hosts home. We also transported our Guests to appointments and meetings. Funding was raised to help with this.
3 years further on and we now have a new Appeal. Information from our Guests who have family still in Ukraine, has helped understand a particular problem which is now ongoing. As the numbers of deaths and injuries rise, it has become necessary to ask more senior members of the population to help support the war effort. Aid is being delivered from many countries to Ukraine, but the boxes being delivered in many cases have to be offloaded and loaded for onward distribution by hand, due to the shortage of Forklift Trucks. BASMA would like to help fund the purchase of at least one Forklift to help with this situation.
Fortuna is a Ukrainian volunteering organisation located in Zhytomyr. It provides support and assistance to Ukrainians during this hard and challenging time by supplying soldiers with military equipment and medical aid. We are now intending to purchase a forklift for them. During this difficult time, we aim to enhance the lives of Ukrainians and contribute in every way we can. May peace prevail in Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine!
As with the previous fundraising at the start of the war, BASMA has agreed to match fund the first £2000 of donations. If you would like to help please make your donation to:
